Cicer arietinum Flour |
Beans may be the hardest food group to get into your diet on a regular basis until you do. But then, well, when it comes as flour, it turns out it's pretty easy as Lesa explains here in;
Cicer arietinum
No good Italian cook is without his or her own favorite recipe for preparing beans. Though ancient Romans considered the pulse to be peasant food, its presence in Italian cookery is considerable. Beans are boiled for elegant soups and rustic stews, whipped up into sweet confections, candied, mashed with olive oil and salt for a spread, roasted for a crispy, salty snack, and milled for flour. As Marcella Hazan mentions in her book, Marcella Cucina, the preference for a particular kind of bean is regional. Liguria, in particular, prefers the ceci to other popular Italian beans like cannellini and borlotti beans.

We love fiddlehead ferns and sea beans! Add ramps and you get a great box of fresh, tasty, easy-as-pie to prepare foraged greens that add a wonderful spring touch to every meal!
It's a bunch for sure, but we grouped it so shipping costs are minimized in order to make it a better deal than if you were to buy each individually. Remember to check your local farmers market too...

New Foods!
It's hard to find unusual foods in a country that is not on everyone's radar. But, when you have one half of your company in The States and the other half on the "ground" in the country, we find you get the real deal. Ann and Maria decided they would not bring in just any food, but what the local people eat - and then explain how they eat it.
Argentina might be known for its beef and its ample supply of organic milk, it also has many "real" products. For example, this olive oil made from Arauco olives is distinct in its flavor and a smooth, clean oil. A true representation of what the olives taste like. Don't believe it? You can buy the olives to compare with the oil! Rarely do you ever have the chance to compare from the same harvest - the olive and the oil!
