Chocolate is supposed to be good for your health. That's great ... I guess. But I think I am a bit like Pierre in Maurice Sendak's famous book - I don't really care. I love chocolate. It's perhaps the only food that I can't live without. For me, it falls into my personal "essential nutrients" category.
Way back when I traveled the world making films, I found out the hard way that chocolate is not readily available everywhere. I learned pretty quickly to never leave home without at least one bar per check-in bag and one bar per carry-on. Just as important, though, is hiding them strategically so your traveling companions don't find and eat them first.
Today, we are pleased to share two new chocolate finds. The first is a chocolate that is priced for a commercial kitchen, special enough to eat out-of-hand, and has a taste and quality that betters most other chocolates. The second is a collection of eating bars from Spain that both taste great and are "BIO" (organic.) But, the best part is? Both are a great deal. Read on...
Italy
Nine months in the making... The hush-hush nature of the release of this amazing chocolate has made the 9 months seem like a lifetime. We have been talking about this new chocolate amongst ourselves and with a confectioner and chocolate specialist for what seems like forever! And since we are talking chocolate here, the anticipation has been exceptionally hard.
Well, it's finally going to be here soon - and just in time for baking season! This Italian chocolate maker has a hint of Switzerland, a hint of Germany, and of course, a large dose of Italy all rolled into one. Though they are not a household name to most, they are well known amongst the chocolate manufacturers of the world. These Italians have been supplying chocolate to many of the well known chocolate names that you are familiar with.
This fall, for the first time, they are releasing their chocolate under their own name. This is some of the finest chocolate you will ever have the pleasure of baking with or, if you are like us, eating with. Whether you are a professional or just love to work with it in your own home, this chocolate is fantastic. It is superior in many ways because of a unique combination of traits: how it handles, how it comes (it's in disks), how it feels (its smoothness), and how it tastes (its flavor personality and overall mouth feel.) Then add to that its price. It will put a smile on your face.
Big chocolate manufacturers have different quality grades for their product. In many cases, commercial bakers and high-end chocolatiers have exclusive access to the highest grades of chocolate. The variety of beans used, where the beans are grown and harvested, how the beans are processed, and the final blend of cocoa mass to cocoa butter and sugar all play a role in determining the final feel and quality of the chocolate, and its final "grade".
Premium chocolatiers know that selecting which chocolate to use involves looking at many factors, not just price or name alone. Handling, final product and use, finish or how it looks when done, and, of course, taste, all play into the final selection for any good chocolatier.
So, whether you need one pound or 12 kilos, this is the best deal on a truly fine chocolate. With a unique combination of taste, finish and price, it's a combination that is hard to beat! Check out our introductory pricing on this awesome quality chocolate. In addition to your usual 5% newsletter coupon, we are taking an additional 10% off the one-pound price for one week only. We love this chocolate so much, we think you will too - and soon be back for more!
Please note: This chocolate is just arriving into the States. Assuming no un-foreseen shipping issues, we should see the chocolate in our warehouse in approximately 20 days. We will turn around the orders as quickly as possible, but shipping to you will take another 3-7 days, depending on where you live. So, please plan accordingly. Special orders don't upset us, let us know if you need large quantities, and we can plan our order accordingly.
Spain
We were just back from traveling and Drew pulled these incredible chocolate bars from Spain off his desk. Drew, who has the most sensitive taste buds in the company, thinks these chocolates are great! For an understated guy, this is a big compliment.
Each bar comes wrapped in its own distinctive, positively fun packaging. Each comes with the EU's new BIO label, indicating organic farming practices. And, each is in an easy-to-open package so you can get to the chocolate quickly and efficiently - no delays. I also appreciate the thinness of the bar - there is no fight to break the bar into bite size pieces and no having to suck up all the chards that are left behind in the wrapper.
Remember the old ad, "betcha' can't just have one" (Young and Rubicam, 1963) - this is definitely a reality with these bars! I was forced to sample not just one, but all eight over and over again, as I wrote this newsletter. I actually do like them all, and though high cocoa percent bars are my norm, secretly, when a middle percent bar comes along, I can't seem to have enough. With the variety of options it seems like there is a bar for every mood. Whether blanco or dark, salt or orange, a pleasure is guaranteed when you make the break to ChocoLate.
The conclusion is every bar is worth having. Each bar has a reason to be enjoyed and, like all chocolate, creates joy in that special place reserved in your brain for chocolate.
