Pruneaux d'Agen
Nature's Amazing Candies
They conjure up a lot of bad stigma (unless you're older, and even then...). It’s almost as if your caught eating prunes people assume that you're superior to them; as if you're stuck up.
But it’s not true! People who eat prunes are good people, everyday people, just like you!
Pruneaux d’Agen (that’s French, "for the very best") are not the shriveled up, dried up, tough skinned plums you envision. No, these prunes are Nature's finest candy; naturally sweet, easy to chew and, of course, easy to digest!
These, all of these, are eye closingly fantastic! Your first bite will sends shivers of joy pulsing through you! Still not convinced? Think of the prune loving people in your life and be a hero!

The First sign of the Holidays
A sure sign that the holidays have arrived are the giant blocks of Torrone in the shops of Italy. Available year round, they are especially prevalent this time of year.
Torrone is just sugar, water, egg whites & extract. Add nuts and you have what is quite a joyous treat. Just the right size, for a stocking, or a glove box, it's better than a chocolate candy bar to share.
In ancient times it was considered for royals only, today it is a royal treat! From hard to soft, with sugar and egg whites or with honey, it is special for sure. And a small bite goes a long way to please the senses and satisfy the sweet craving.

Pâte de Fruits!
What's all the rage you might ask? It's just water, acid, sugar, pectin, and fruity flavor.
However, if you ask a Pâte de Fruit'ee'file you'll find them expelling words of love and lust for these French treats. Now don't be confused with the commercial, domestic versions, which are mostly a bite of sugar that clings to your teeth (that's the high fructose corn syrup) and by the time your palate has adjusted to the invasion of sweet any sign of fruitiness is gone.
These Pâte de Fruits on the other hand are the cats meow of jellies. Dense in weight and with a fruity presence you can immediately tell that these are special. Try a little and you'll want a lot!
(That's pat du froo'eee).

Praline Hazelnuts!
Whether you know what Praline is (a caramel covered nut) or not, this is exactly how you want your sweet covered nuts to taste. Not slathered in some fructose sugar so thick and hard it almost breaks your crown, this Praline Hazelnut is like having a perfect hazelnut with just the right coating of brown sugar! A perfect munch without the crunch!

The panettone has arrived!
Everything, well almost everything, is here. Just a few are in FDA hold... Check out the category here. Just a few are sold out so far, so don't hesitate.
Order soon to ensure your favorites this year.
There are 36 different panettone/pandoro products this year, including 8 new ones that do not have photographs yet or descriptions, because we have not tasted them yet. Most new products are always very limited supply because it's the first year. We will get photos up as soon as we can. But if it sounds interesting to you, I would reserve yours today. The small burlap wrapped Flamigni panettone are fabulous, the photos do not do them justice.

Chestnut and Mushroom Soup Recipe
Nothing says winter like chestnuts. Roasting on the open fire, and all that. This creamy combination sounds wonderful -- a perfect starter to a Thanksgiving meal.
Fennel Soup w/Cranberries & Hazelnuts Recipe
La Cucina Italiana Magazine is one of my favorite magazines. As a total lover of Italian food, what is not to like? In my quest to find a good Thanksgiving starter, I spotted this recipe. I love the taste of fennel.
Banana Cream Pie Recipe
Not sure why I feel compelled to make Banana Cream pie for Thanksgiving but I do. Something about the cool, smooth cream feel that tops the finish of big meal. Or is it because you can steal a little off the top before dinner and no one will know! |
