Argan Almond - Amlou Butter
Try it and you might just love it for life! Special Price!
It's a really special deal, exclusively for ChefShop.com newsletter subscribers! Villa Jerada wants you to try Amlou and is offering you over 50% off the normal price.
Here is what we say about Amlou...
This healthy ingredient smooth like a creamy peanut butter has a distinct taste that is incredibly addictive. At first spoonful, as you lick and then smoosh it around, flavors of the argan, almonds and the sweetness of the honey blend perfectly. Just a tiny bit of texture keeps it interesting as you press your tongue to the roof of you mouth and finish the taste.
Full of healthy ingredients and smooth like a creamy peanut butter, it has a distinct taste that is incredibly addictive. At first spoonful, as you lick and then smoosh it around, flavors of the Argan, almonds and the sweetness of the honey blend perfectly. Just a tiny bit of texture keeps it interesting as you press your tongue to the roof of you mouth and finish the taste.
Amlou - Amalou has been around for a long time. It is often associated with the Berber Tribes and one of the foods carried when trekking long distances. The argan oil, the wildflower honey and the almonds are blended to create this healthy food. Villa Jerada uses more Argan oil than others so you get the health benefits and the flavor to stand out.
There is not just one Amlou version. From town to town and city to city, the variations are many and the personalities of each are different. And like peanut butter, it is easy to make. All you need is the best food grade Argan oil (many Argan oils are meant for cosmetics, sold for food) a high quality honey, and excellent almonds. And patience as you perfect your Mom's recipe!
Mehdi of Villa Jerada has been working on this "food" for a long time. Making it for himself at home, and bringing it from Morocco to have as well.
Making anything in larger quantities is a totally different process than making it at home and Mehdi knows this. His desire to create the same "homemade" product is why Villa Jerada foods are so darn good!
This Amlou is another extension of his homemade kitchen. Using more Argan oil than commercial versions is why this food is so good for you in flavor and healthy benefits. Adding a wildflower honey from a beekeeper in Eastern Washington and almonds from a grower in California brings it all together.

Moroccan Harissa!
the next ketchup
Have a jar in the fridge and one in the pantry for back-up. This dried chili with tomato, preserved lemons, mint and garlic combines to make a spicy, saucy, ketchup-like condiment. You can use it for everything! Like Sriracha, just not as hot, and with more "flavors", Villa Jerada's Harissa is our go to fave!

Chermoula!
A meaty spread without the meat
Though there is not a lick of meat in here, the instant memories evoked are of every great smoked, grilled or BBQ protein you have ever had! What a masterpiece of delicious flavor!
And as your flavor mind comes up with a zillion ideas of what to do, your confidence soars and you feel perfectly in control of your next masterpiece!
To the nose, Moroccan chermoula reminds me of an olive tapenade with a twitch of tomato and a myriad of spices including cumin.
And to the mouth, wow, it is not what you expect. The spices mix together, and to your palate the cumin and the paprika stand up. On the outside of the inner walls of your mouth is the garlic. With a smoothness of a delicious sauce there is the preserved lemon that is just right, providing a little chew. Complexity revolves in your mouth, but the finish is complete & simple!
Think tomato as the carrier or support, then the olive oil washes through with the olive flavor bringing with it the cumin & paprika. And topping it all, like any good herb, parsley and cilantro open up and bring the garden. The preserved lemon is identifiable, yet not overpowering at all! What a mix! As the flavor finishes, you feel like you are eating all of Morocco in one spoonful! Easy to use and spoon ready!

Argan Oil!
Gold of Morocco!
In the arid, near-desert landscape of the southern Atlas Mountains of Morocco grows the ancient Argan Tree. The thorny tree, sole species of the genus Argania, yields a pulpy fruit, beloved mainly by goats, containing a hard kernel, Within each kernel are just a very few seeds. And in the heart of each seed is oil: an oil coveted throughout the world.
The Argan Tree grows only in southwestern Morocco, and for generations, Argan oil was virtually unknown elsewhere. But as Morocco becomes recognized for its amazing food, the secret has come out about this amazing oil. Not quite like any other oil, this cold-pressed Argan oil is a nutty, lightly toasty, richly flavored yet light-bodied oil that's high in essential unsaturated fatty acids.
Argan oil - the hidden gem in skin preservation and a wonderful preservation of our inner being.
Over the last 15 years this has been my favorite tasting Argan oil.

Tax Season
Licorice that fights tax pain
Carnal Knowledge, Same Time Next Year, Hannah and Her Sisters, Moonstruck, The Untouchables, Midnight Run, Lethal Weapon II, Look Who's Talking, The Accountant...What do all these movies have in common?
They all have accountants...and the accountants all ate RJ's Soft Black Licorice at tax time!
Okay, not really. But, they'd have been happier if they had. Licorice is known for its stomach acid fighting properties, and RJ's was designed for when you are filling out your 1040 & Schedule D.
Because Rj's is simply the best licorice we've ever tasted. It's as different from those waxy Red Vines as a just-picked, sun-warmed garden tomato is from those pale impostors at the grocery store.
When customers stop by our store here in Seattle, we often offer them a little licorice log (after they've tasted all the new olive oils), and sometimes we hear, "Oh, I'm not really a big licorice fan." But they try it - and they're hooked. They buy a bag for their friend, for their mom, and of course, one to keep stashed in the glove box.
RJ's Soft Black Licorice is licorice like it used to be. Nothing artificial, not sickly sweet - just real, licorice flavor and super-satisfying, chewy texture. (Disclaimer: If you really hate that anise flavor, this isn't for you. We bet you know someone who'd love it for a special little treat, though.)
New smaller bag makes for a lower price and less calories (if you eat the whole bag).

The creamy interior feels creamy!
This is one of the most dazzling chocolate bars we've had the pleasure to taste! Just the first bite may make your eyes roll into your head, as all the flavors - almond, hazelnut, chocolate - come together. It is so good you may feel compelled to eat it all at once. We don't recommend it.
Chocolate maker extraordinaire Francois Pralus introduced his "barre infernale" to America at New York City's annual chocolate trade show in late 2005 and it's almost infernally decadent or devilishly delicious.

Haku Mitzunara
Whiskey Barrel Aged
Sensational Shoyu!
"This shoyu is terrific - mild, sweet, and delicious. I compared this in a taste test with my old soy sauce that I had in the cupboard, and the old stuff tasted harsh and salty by comparison. I am buying this from now on! This evening, I made a shoyu and lemon balsamic salad dressing from this shoyu, and it was outstanding. Highly recommended."
